GOSPEL CONCERT – Tonight, Sunday 2nd February at 7pm –in Ballymore Parish Church. Guest artistes: Men in Black Gospel Group, Paul Berry and Amy Eakin. There will be a special collection in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Church Funds. Refreshments will be served in the Parish Hall after the concert.
ARCHBISHOP OF ARMAGH: After seven years in Armagh, Archbishop Richard Clarke retires today as Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland. We extend our sincere thanks to Archbishop Richard for his leadership, guidance and pastoral care across those years and pray that he may know God’s blessing in the time to come and enjoy many happy and healthy years of retirement. There will be a special Farewell Eucharist this evening in the Cathedral in Armagh attended by all the diocesan clergy and representatives of the wider Church.
SELECT VESTRY will meet at 8pm in the Parish Room on Monday 3rd February 2020.
WALKMORE: The Parish Walking Club will meet on Wednesday 5th February, meeting in the Church Car Park at 10am. This week’s walk will be along the Scarva Towpath. New members welcome.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE 2020: You are warmly invited to the SAMS (Ireland) annual event in the Craigavon Civic Centre on Friday 7th February at 7.30pm. There will be exciting stories of God at work in South America. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
LITTLE LIGHTS is the title of a special Praise Party being held for young children and toddlers in the diocese on Saturday 8th February from 2pm – 3pm in St Columba’s Parish Hall, Portadown. All children and their families are very welcome.
BLOOD DONATION SESSIONS: The Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service blood donation sessions are back in the Parish Hall next month on Friday 14th February 2020 from 2.15pm – 4pm and 5.15pm – 8pm.
FLOWER FESTIVAL in Ballymore Parish Church from 8th – 10th May 2020 as part of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day celebrations. The theme is “Let there be Peace”. As well as the flowers and lunch and refreshments being available in the Parish Hall, we are also hoping to have some old military vehicles and memorabilia. Please put the date in your diary and keep it free as we will need lots of volunteers to help with catering, the car park, guides etc.
AMBASSADOR DIOCESAN MAGAZINE: payment of £7.50 for the “Ambassador” is now due for 2020/21 to be paid to Joanne Craig before the end of February. Thank you.
REVISION OF GENERAL VESTRY LIST will take place on Sunday 23rd February 2020 at 8pm. During this month if you would like your name added to the General Vestry List, therefore securing your voting rights at the Easter General Vestry meeting, please ask the Churchwardens for a form. Under new legislation adopted by the Diocesan Synod in October 2016 and approved by the Representative Body in December 2016 “any person registered or claiming to be registered as a resident or an accustomed member, must be an annual subscriber of a sum not less than £50 per annum to the Sustentation Fund of the Parish of which he or she wishes to be a vestry member. Such subscription must be paid either through regular giving or as a single donation. It must be contributed in an identifiable manner, therefore general Sunday cash collections are not considered as qualifying subscriptions. Contributions through an envelope system are deemed to be qualifying subscriptions.”
