The Rector is preaching in St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin this morning and this afternoon so we are delighted to welcome our former rural dean, Canon Neville Hughes, as our celebrant at 9am Holy Communion and as the Preacher at the 11am Service of Morning Prayer. Canon Brian Blacoe will then conduct the monthly Healing Service at 7pm.
ASH WEDNESDAY which marks the beginning of the penitential season of Lent is on Wednesday of this week (26th February) and so there will be a special Penitential Service at 7.30pm. Throughout Lent there will be a Service of the Word every Wednesday night in Church at 7.30pm which will last approximately half an hour.
OPEN DOOR CLUB will meet on Thursday 27th February at 2pm in the Minor Hall. The speaker will be Paul Berry. New members welcome.
BIBLE STUDY / PRAYER GROUP will meet in the Parish Room on Thursday 27th February at 7.30pm for a time of prayer followed by a Bible Study at 8pm.
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER – Service will take place in the Presbyterian Church, Tandragee on Friday 6th March at 8pm. Everyone is welcome, male and female, to attend and enjoy being part of a great wave of prayer observed by an estimated three million people in 170 countries over a 36 hour period. The theme of the service is “Rise, take your mat and walk,” (John 5:2-9) written by the women of Zimbabwe as they encourage us to reflect on the difficulties and unrest that have plagued their country over many years.
REVISION OF GENERAL VESTRY LIST will take place on Wednesday 26th February 2020 at 8.30pm. During this month if you would like your name added to the General Vestry List, therefore securing your voting rights at the Easter General Vestry meeting, please ask the Churchwardens for a form. Under new legislation adopted by the Diocesan Synod in October 2016 and approved by the Representative Body in December 2016 “any person registered or claiming to be registered as a resident or an accustomed member, must be an annual subscriber of a sum not less than £50 per annum to the Sustentation Fund of the Parish of which he or she wishes to be a vestry member.”
AMBASSADOR DIOCESAN MAGAZINE: payment of £7.50 for the “Ambassador” is now due for 2020/21 to be paid to Joanne Craig before the end of February. Thank you.
GOSPEL EVENING: We are extremely grateful to Emo Overend for all the work he does behind the scenes to organise Gospel Evenings and Concerts in Ballymore. Over the last few years they have proved to be wonderful times of fellowship and praise when a huge amount of money has also been raised for charity. The next Gospel evening will be on Sunday 22nd March 2020 at 7pm in Church when we will welcome the Dromore Male Voice Choir. Please put the date in your diary!
FLOWER FESTIVAL in Ballymore Parish Church from 8th – 10th May 2020 as part of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day celebrations. The theme is “Let there be Peace”. We have contacted local shops and businesses asking for support with the sponsorship of the flowers and have received a great response. Parish families may also wish to sponsor flowers and some may wish to do so in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a significant life event like a baptism or wedding anniversary. If you would be interested in being associated with the Flower Festival through making a donation, your name would be included on the printed programme for the weekend and also on a notice board in the Church and Parish Hall. If you would like to do this please include your details on a piece of paper and give it and your donation to the Churchwardens. Many thanks.
